How Do I Remove My CND Shellac Gel Polish?

Everyone loves having a manicure and pedicure, but sometimes life gets in the way, and you might not be able to get back to the salon for removal. You might have an event to attend that doesn’t fit with the nails you currently have, or if we were back in the 2020 lockdown, they would have got in the way, and we would have to find a way to remove gel polish without the salons.

There are many stories where removal went wrong during the lockdown. Today’s blog will go through how to remove your CND Shellac safely:

What do I need?

The first thing you need to have is the correct equipment to remove your paint safely. CND have a removal kit that you can buy, and this will be the safest way to clear your CND Shellac manicure.

In the kit, you will find:

  • Offly Fast or D’solve 2fl oz
  • 10 foil remover wraps
  • Orange Wood Stick
  • Solar Oil 3.7ml
  • Nail file

How do I remove the nails now I have my kit?

Before starting the removal, you will need to know what top coat you have on your nails. This will determine the amount of time you need to wrap your nails to have a safe removal.

Here are the CND Shellac removal time’s dependant on which topcoat you have.

XPRESS5™ – 5 MINUTES

ORIGINAL – 8 MINUTES

DURAFORCE™ – 15 MINUTES

SPECIAL EFFECTS – 8-10 MINUTES

Now you know your soak-off time, follow the step by step guide below.

  1. Wash hands thoroughly and sanitise the hands before beginning.
  2. Take a CND™ Foil Remover Wrap and saturate the cotton part of the wrap with the D’solve
  3. Place the wrap under the finger with the edge of the cotton pad underneath the extension edge of the nail
  4. Fold the cotton pad over the top of the nail.
  5. Wrap each side of the CND™ Foil Remover Wrap around the entire finger, ensuring a snug, tight fit.
  6. Squeeze the top centre of the foil to secure the wrap onto the nail.
  7. Repeat for all fingers. You may want to do this one hand at a time to make it easier.
  8. Leave the CND™ Foil Remover Wrap on the finger for up to 15 minutes. The removal time depends on what Shellac™ Top Coat has been used by your nail professional. This will vary from 5 to 15 minutes. You should be looking for the butterfly effect
  9. Securely grip the foil remover wrap around the nail, applying slight pressure and slide the wrap off the nail.
  10. If any product is remaining, gently slide it off with your orangewood stick in the direction of the growth of the nail plate. It’s vital to be gentle here and never force the product of the nail to prevent unnecessary damage to your natural nails.
  11. Finally, saturate a cotton pad with D’solve and rub the nail to remove any remaining product.
  12. Finish by applying CND™SolarOil™ to the nail and cuticle to keep nails hydrated and healthy.
