In this week’s blog we are going to be talking about facial treatments, what they are and how they benefit your skin.
Do we need facial treatments?
In short, yes. I like to use the analogy of seeing facials as your personal trainer, your boost. Whereas your skincare regime is everything you need to do during the week to keep good skin health. I.e., if you have a PT session and eat junk all week with no additional exercise, you will not get the results you wish. This is the same if you never see a personal trainer, you may not know what exercises will be best for you to do to gain the results you would like. By not seeing your skin care therapist you may not be using the correct products for your skin.
Isn’t my skin the same all year around?
Our skin changes throughout the year especially in the winter and summer months. In the summer as the temperature rises you will notice changes depending on your skin type. Your sweat glands become more active during the summer as your core body temperature rises. Sweat releases water, toxins, salt and minerals to the skins surface, the sweat evaporates, and in the process of the evaporation we cool down. This in turn could make your skin oilier and can potentially lead to some breakouts on the face, back and possibly chest.
On the other hand in the summer months if the air is lacking humidity, your skin can lack moisture, especially when you’re sitting in air-conditioning all day. Both strip the skin of much-needed moisture, causing dehydration and importantly to note an impaired barrier function. For many people this can result in not only a really parched skin but also a sensitive one too. It is really important to have a good home care routine, ensuring you cleanse your skin correctly and replenish your skin with a good moisturiser to suit your skin needs and the environment you are in during the summer.
Reviewing your skin needs will help ensure good skin health. This month, take a look and feel of how your skin is feeling. Are you suffering from more dry skin than usual, has your acne calmed down or getting worse, have red patches formed in new areas, does your skin seem to be more oily than normal?
Getting a routine facial can help with these issues and it’s also a great opportunity for you to ask all those questions that might be thrown up from your skin stock take this month!
What is a facial procedure like?
If you’re new to skincare or have never had a facial before you might be a little worried about what a facial procedure entails, or what the best skin treatment for your face might be. Let’s dig into that a little more.
As skin care professionals start with a skin consultation. We go through your current regime, lifestyle, skin concerns and advise on the facial treatment that would suit your skin best to get the results you are looking for. We also advise on skin care products you can use at home after treatment to either start your skin care journey or to continue your current progress.
With the chosen facial we then explain how the treatment will work and what to expect.
An Environ Ionzyme® DF Facial is unlike any other facial. Environ facials are customised to address your concerns, give brighter and more radiant skin and enhanced absorption of skincare products. For active vitamins to work optimally, they first need to penetrate through all the upper skin layers. We use a combination of low-frequency sound waves (Sonophoresis) and a pulsed form of galvanic current (Iontophoresis) to do just that. Environ products containing key active ingredients (high doses of Vitamin A & C, Antioxidants, Growth Factors and Hyaluronic Acid) are pushed deep into the skin to bring you results. The treatments are totally painless, relaxing and comfortable
A Quick step by step guide of a facial:

What are facial treatment benefits for your skin?
As we mentioned at the beginning of the post, there are multiple benefits that you might get from having a routine facial done. These will depend on your skin type, the facial treatments that we decide on and the upkeep of your skincare routine at home after your session.
Here is a short list of some of the issues that a facial can help with;
- Hydrates and Moisturise skin.
- Refine and Tighten the Skin.
- Soften Lines and Minor Scarring.
- Stimulates Collagen Production.
- Help diminish Pigmentation.
- Even-Out Complexion.
- Creates an overall healthy glow to the skin.
