The holiday season is here again! We’re talking about sun, sea and of course, sand but what does that mean for our skin care and overall body health?

We’ve compiled a list of holiday care tips to help you maintain your skin health during the holiday season.

Hydrate

It may seem obvious, but drinking plenty of water is essential for keeping your skin hydrated.

Water helps flush out toxins and keeps your skin moisturised. When we’re on holiday there is a tendency to lean towards other drinks and forgoing the sipping on water that you might do at home. Dehydration can have huge impact on your skins health and it’s ability to glow.

Not to mention, whilst lying in the sun or adventuring in hot countries you will be losing even more water through sweat. So, try to keep up with the amount of water that you should be drinking.

Use Sunscreen

Sun exposure is inevitable during the holiday season, especially if you spend time outdoors. But too much sun exposure can cause premature aging and wrinkles as well as increasing your risk of skin cancer.

Use sunscreen every day to protect your skin from the harmful effects of the sun. Learn more about UV protection for your skin here.

Moisturise

Whether you’re heading off on a beach holiday or spending a lot more time outdoors, it’s always nice to look after your skin while you’re away from home. Moisturising is especially important during the summer months, since the sun can dry out your skin and lead to other skin concerns

To prevent this, try applying a moisturiser every day. It doesn’t matter if you’re going to the beach or staying indoors; apply a moisturiser to your face and hands to protect against dehydration. Don’t forget to reapply sunscreen too!

Make sure that you’re using products that are suitable for your skin type. For example, if you have sensitive skin, avoid using heavy creams and opt instead for lightweight formulas. Also, choose products that contain at least SPF 15 or higher. These will provide protection from harmful UV rays.

Prevent Breakout Flare-Ups

Breakouts and acne is a common skin condition that many people experience during the summer months.

One of the best ways to prevent breakouts from occurring is to avoid certain triggers. For example, if you’re going to be spending lots of time outdoors, try to wear sunscreen and apply moisturiser beforehand. Also, avoid touching your face too much, especially before washing your hands. These actions can lead to clogged pores and increased oil production, which can result in a breakout.

If you do end up developing breakouts or acne, don’t panic. There are plenty of treatments available to help clear up the problem. Some of these include Environ Cool Peel Facials, home care products, and prescription medications. However, it’s always best to have a consultation prior to using products.

Maintain Healthy Hair

Hair care is always a challenge during a holiday. Fortunately, there are plenty of ways to maintain healthy hair while traveling.

First, try to avoid shampooing your hair too much. Shampooing strips your hair of its natural oils, which can lead to dryness and breakage. Instead, wash your hair just enough to remove dirt and oil build-up without stripping the scalp of essential moisture.

Finally, if you’re going to be spending extended periods of time outdoors, consider wearing hats. Hats provide great protection against sun damage which can lead to frizziness.

Get a Facial

A facial is a great way to pamper yourself and give your skin some extra attention. A facial can rejuvenate your skin, reduce fine lines, and improve circulation.

Many hotels abroad will offer facial and massage services so why not take them up on the offer and give your skin a chance to relax.
